// Area 02 — Drug Development

From discovery
to a fundable case.

Support for programmes moving from discovery toward candidate selection — target engagement, protein and construct engineering, and the preclinical groundwork that decides whether a programme is fundable.

// Drug development

The gap is evidence, not ideas.

Most programmes stall between an interesting result and a defensible package.

A fused ring molecular scaffold

There is a stage where a programme has a real biological result and no clear path to the next round of funding. The science is not the problem; the evidence package is. Reviewers want target engagement shown cleanly, a candidate that can actually be made, and a route to a regulated product that someone has thought about.

We work in that gap — partly with capital, partly by doing the design and construct work that turns a result into a case.

Where we come in

  • Target engagement — designing the constructs and assays that show it convincingly.
  • Protein and construct engineering for the candidate and its controls.
  • In-silico triage so laboratory effort goes to the candidates worth making.
  • Preclinical groundwork: the experiments a diligence process will ask for.
  • An honest read on the IP position and the regulatory route.

What we assess before investing

The data as it stands, the intellectual property position, and whether a credible route to a regulated product exists. We would rather say no early and clearly than carry a programme that cannot get through the next gate.

// Capability

What we
actually do.

The specific pieces of work an engagement in this area is made of.

  • 01

    Programme review

    An honest read of the data, the stage, and what is actually blocking the next milestone.

  • 02

    Target engagement

    Constructs, reagents and assays designed to demonstrate engagement without ambiguity.

  • 03

    Candidate triage

    In-silico ranking for affinity, stability, expression and developability.

  • 04

    Construct engineering

    Designing the candidate, its variants and the controls a reviewer will expect.

  • 05

    Preclinical groundwork

    The experiments that make a data package hold up under technical diligence.

  • 06

    Investment

    Capital committed against milestones once the case and the terms are agreed.

// Questions

Asked
often.

If yours is not here, ask it directly — every enquiry is read by someone who can answer it.

  • How early is too early?

    Rarely too early. If there is a target and a reason to believe, there is something to talk about. What we cannot help with is a programme that has no experimental result at all.

  • Do you take a position, or is this a service?

    Both are possible. Some engagements are investment against milestones; some are design and construct work paid for directly. We will say which one fits after reading the science.

  • What happens if you decline?

    We tell you why. If it is a stage problem rather than a science problem we will say what would change our answer.
